Built on the road: the story behind Driver In Sri Lanka
Long before there was a website, there was a tour guide who knew the island well and believed travelers deserved to meet their driver directly. This is where Driver In Sri Lanka comes from.
It started on the road
Rohan Ambrose Leonard Fernando (R.A.L. Fernando) spent more than 12 years working as a tour guide for some of Sri Lanka’s leading tour agencies. Those years were an education in what travelers actually value: a driver they can trust, a plan that fits them, and someone who knows the island well enough to show it properly.
- From 2000Rohan began working in Sri Lankan tourism and spent 12+ years guiding for leading tour agencies, learning the roads, the sites and the guests.
- Over a decade ago, Driver In Sri LankaHe started Driver In Sri Lanka, a small family-run business built on experience and word of mouth rather than a big office or marketing budget.
- Today, a community of driversExperienced, licensed drivers who plan and run trips themselves, working directly with travelers.
The idea: no middlemen
The belief behind the business has stayed simple. Travelers should be able to reach the people who will actually drive and guide them, with no layers in between. The goal is the same today as it was on day one: tours that are safe, memorable and affordable.
In short: a guide with years on the road, a family business started over a decade ago, and a promise to keep travelers connected directly with their driver.
